HD band adjuster
The stock band adjuster is known for bending under higher pressure often used in performance powerglide builds. Other suppliers simple take a stock design and just make a duplicate using slightly stronger material. To fix the real problem WPT has designed an anchor and fixed all the common weak points.
Stock adjuster:
Stock adjusters and similiar designed adjusters have a built in weak point visible under a fininte element analysis (arrow)
This inherant weak point causes the tip to bend with the high pressures used with racing automatics. Pictured here is a stock style adjuster after only 2 races in a super comp dragster, notice the angle.
The other common problem to the stock style of adjuster is the hex side. When tightening during adjustment the thin walls tend to crack, and any appreciable amount of side load will cause them to break. Other aftermarket adjusters even though heat treated are more brittle and have known to crack at the root of the thread where the lock nut is tightened.

HD Band Adjuster:
Our band adjsuter is made from higher quality material than stock adjusters and even competitor adjusters. However, what seperates our adjuster in the design, first the tip has a single taper which lowers the stress concentration and transfers load to the stronger thicker area. Notice how the dark blue, lower stress area is distributed evenly.
Secondly the shaft diameter has been increased (red arrow) stock and aftermarket cases are drilled out to larger than stock and other adjuster diameters. The loose fit gives leverage to the band, allowing the shaft area of the adjuster to experience higher stress and bend.
Finally the threaded side of the adjuster has been improved. The hex has been removed and a square drive flange (yellow arrow) has been added, not only for strength but ease. Others broach a 7/32" hex in the tip, an uncommon and difficult wrench to find, while ours has a protruding 5/16" square drive allowing any 12pt socket to be used.
